Geedo was the brother of one of the kids who played in a team I used to run. Starting as a 17 year old he spent hours over months and years helping me out coaching the kids. He taught them to play fair, to play with skill and flair, and to keep the ball on the deck. always had a smile, always laughed with the kids. He was a role model even as a teenager to these 10 and 12 year old boys. God bless him!

Gordon Lennon was a great role model for young footballers, his attitude to life and football were spot on and decency ran through his blood. If I had a son I would be proud if he grew up to be like Gordon.
The family and friends of Gordon have suffered a devastating loss and my thoughts and prayers go to them in the hope that they get some comfort from teh esteem with which we all held Gordon.

Gordon, you may only have been at the club for just over a year now, but the impact you have made will be long lasting.

I have never seen someone smile as much as you, on and off the park, and it was great to share a few words with you during the on-field celebrations down in Annan.

You gave everything for the club, and we thank you for it.

Rest In Peace, Gordon Lennon, 15/02/1983 – 7/06/2009!

I am totally stunned in hearing this sad news. I managed Gordon over a number of years during his time playing with Maryhill BC and Harmony Row U21. He was an absolute delight to work with, always smiling and game for a laugh with his team mates.

Gordon was not only one of my best players but he was a close friend too. In fact we both used to get slagged at Harmony Row because we also spent alot of time together outwith football, therefore everyone used to say he was “ma boy!”. I cannot put into words how proud I was of Gordon and all that he had achieved in his career.

My deepest thoughts and prayers are with Gordon’s family but especially with Kelly and his son Kai.

    Rest in Peace Guido x

How absolutely awful… A terrible shock. My thoughts with Gordon’s family, all who love him, and everyone associated with the club.

It is wonderful to see the all the supportive and thoughtful messages from supporters of other teams.

Football can be daft as a brush sometimes, but it is gratifying to know that moments like this (shocking, tragic and heartbreaking as they are) can bring us together.

As an Airdrie fan, our teams weren’t in the same division in recent times, so I never saw Gordon Lennon play. However, I would like to send my condolences to his family, friends and all associated with Dumbarton FC on his untimely loss, made sadder by the fact he had such a young baby.

My deepest condolences go to Gordon’s family. My lasting memory will be of a player who always played the game with a smile. He always had time for the fans and, indeed, during a break in play at one of our final home games of the season, he took time to speak to the disabled supporters at the front of the stand and asked them if they were enjoying th game.

A sad, sad loss to the club

I am so saddened by Gordon’s sudden passing at such a tragically young age.

If ever there was an example or role model for how a football club captain should conduct himself then Gordon was that man.

My deepest and most sincere condolences go to Gordon’s partner Kelly and their wee baby. Also to his extended family and friends.

I am a Rangers supporter but I have went to see Dumbarton a few times with Graham Welsh who is a Sons of the Rock fanatic.
I had the great pleasure of going to the Dumbarton v Elgin game towards the end of last season. One of the players who caught my eye was Gordon Lennon who I thought was a good attacking full back. The other thing I shall remember was when he was with his girfriend and baby son. It really was a lovely scene and my heart goes out to them. God bless you Gordon

I only got to know Gordon recently when he joined our company but in those few short months he made such an impact on us that we’ll never forget him. He had such a zest for life and was always smiling. His attitude and personality were infectious and one look at that big smile had us all smiling with him, he lit up the room wherever he went. It was an honour and a pleasure to know Gordon – he was one of a kind and will never be forgotten.

    OOR CAPTAIN

The lord has taken our captain away
    At Dumbarton F C it’s a very sad day
He’s gone to play football in the sky
We’ll all miss him, especially Kelly and Kia

Down at the Rock, it’s a very sad place
We’re all going to miss his cheeky face
This season we won the third division title
His tackles and leadership, they were so vital

He came from Thistle to play for the Sons
You soon became the fans number one
You were brave, skilful and courageous
Off the park, you smile was contagious

At the end of the season we all had a blast
We thought the good times, they would last
You were our leader, so brave and so strong
How we will miss you now that you’re gone

You were a friend, a pal, a really good man
A hero, to my son Adam, your number one fan
Now rest in peace our Captain Guido
You will always be the Sons fans superhero

Gordon, I knew him as a player and a friend
As SONS LEGEND to the very end
You’ll be sorely missed on a match day
I wish the Lord had let you stay

Guido you’ll always be in our prayers
To me, you were my favourite player
But alas we have got to move on
One more time lads sing the song

    GUIDO, GUIDO, GUIDO
