Trusts are Just the Ticket

October 15, 2010

It was a small gesture, but it shows how fan-based involvement in running a football club can make a difference.

Trust-owned Stirling Albion were allocated 4 pairs of tickets for the Scotland game against World Cup winners Spain at Hampden last Tuesday.  Instead of just handing them to the directors, they put them up for sale to members of the Trust, to Bino Bond Holders and Season Ticket holders – making sure that the benefit and the funds went to where they really belong. Equally commendable was the cheque for £250 that the Stirling Trust have made over to crisis-hit Dundee.  Trusts can do it differently, when they have the influence and numbers. Remember that as you contemplate the many woes facing football in Scotland at the moment. Then pledge to sign someone else up to the Sonstrust if you can… not forgetting yourself, if you haven’t got round to it yet!
