Man of the Match Awards 17/18

July 12, 2017

Another league season approaches and Dumbarton FC are looking forward to a 6th successive year in Scottish football’s 2nd tier.

Not since seasons 1997/98 to 2001/02 has the club spent 5 years or more in the same division (when ‘we’ were anchored in the bottom tier of Scottish football). It’s also our longest sustained period in Scotland’s 2nd tier since promotion following season 83/84 took the club back into Scotland’s top flight.

With Brechin joining us as a part-time team in a league that is again dominated by full time rivals, we look to stamp our authority as Scotland’s best part timers and battle to maintain our status as a now firm fixture of the Scottish Championship.

The performances of Stevie Aitken’s squad will surely spark some passionate debate and that’s where we need the involvement of Sonstrust members to fuel the half-time and post match chat.

Ever fancied sparking that post-game discussion over a man of the match performance?

Heard the man of the match winner and thought “he might have had a good game, but his teammate was even better”?

Now’s your chance.

The Sonstrust will again be sponsors of the man of the match award for the 2017/18 season and we’re looking for your help.

We need a volunteer to select their for man of the match at every Dumbarton home league game. All we ask is that you’re a current Sonstrust member, that you can text your selection to us before the 85th minute of the game and that you’re able to stay behind after the match for around 30 minutes to present your winner with their prize.

We’ll announce your choice over the stadium PA system and the award presentation pictures will be used by the Sonstrust online, on social media and in the match day programme.

If you’re interested in picking the man of the match at a Sons home league game this season then please get in touch with trust board member Alistair Thorn at

a.thorn.1@blueyonder.co.uk

If there’s a particular league game you’d want to volunteer for then let us know and we’ll try to make it happen.

We can only continue to sponsor and run the man of the match award thanks to the support and participation of our members.
