Walk to the Rock 3

September 4, 2015

11034059_811273405575405_7273761534611780860_nWALK to the Rock 3 is now just one day away; and with over 100 expected participants for the 7-mile trek, excitement is building nicely.

Sons boss Stevie Aitken will see the walkers off at 9.30am on Saturday morning, and he’s delighted to be able to at least take some part in the day.

He said : “Whilst I’ve got an important match to prepare for against Alloa Ath, I’m looking forward to the start of the wlak.

“Youth development at Dumbarton FC is very important and it’s great to know that our YDI can be self-sustaining by raising its own funds.

“Sponsorship would be great too mind you, but it’s heartening to know that we have a committed team of dedicated coaches willing to work hard outwith their football committments.”

The route: The entire route is approximately 7 miles and we anticipate, with a good pace, a 3-hour timeframe. From the Erskine Garden Centre, we will make our way on to the Erskine Bridge. We will follow the bridge to the exit point at Old Kilpatrick and walk through the village before heading into Bowling. On entry to Bowling, we will follow the cycle path that runs parallel to the A82. At the end of the cycle path we will head down Greenhead Road/Castlegreen St towards the stadium.

Hopefully, to round the day off, the Sons lads will give us three points with a win against Alloa Athletic!
