Common Voice

MEMBERSHIP secretary Tommy Hughes has been a busy man in the last few weeks, getting ready for the trust’s new period for renewals.

Letters and packs will be sent out on week beginning 8th June and your board urges all to return their completed forms as quickly as possible.

Each form has an option to renew your trust shareholding by standing order and to help save on admin costs, this is the method we’d like to get all of our members, old and new, on to, as Tommy explains.

“It’s actually quite a task to get all forms sent out by post; that said it has proved to be a successful method over the years, especially as we include free postage.

“But I’d really like if we could migrate to standing orders AND send out all our correspondence electronically.

“Not everyone though has internet access and I appreciate that completely, so we always are looking to strike a balance.

“But if we can get eighty to ninety percent of members to renew automatically via standing order I’d be a happy man!”

Members who do not receive a letter in the next seven days are asked to contact Tommy via e-mail using

Trust secretary Alan Findlay commented : “As ever, we are always looking to grow our membership numbers and the trust board have set an ambitious target for the season ahead.

“Tommy reports that for season 2014/15 we had 331 members, slightly down on the previous campaign where the year before we reached 357.

“We are looking particularly at getting more numbers from the younger element of the Sons support and with Jack Crawford on our board, we will be looking to grow in this area.

“Alistair Thorn along with Simon Barrow and myself are looking into a few initiatives to move things along, however the trust in its twelve years has played a significant part in DFC’s progress.

“We are proud of our involvement.”
