Quids for the Kids

August 19, 2013

THE Sons Supporters Trust has today appealed to all Dumbarton supporters to help them raise £££s for DFC’s youth development work by giving £1 at this Saturday’s home match against Greenock Morton.

The concept is simple ; the Trust is asking all supporters to drop just ONE POUND into special collection buckets, which will be carried by coaches/parents and players of the YDI at the match.

All proceeds will be used for the club’s youth and community programme.

“This will be our third Quids for Kids collection and we are hoping that it will be a success,”, said Alan Findlay, the Trust’s director on the board of Dumbarton FC.

“Youth development is at the core of the trust’s aims and objectives and we are determined that we give as much support as we possibly can.

“Funding routes are diminishing so we have to start doing things for ourselves.

“Our club has a cracking reputation for developing players and by giving just £1 on Saturday against Morton every supporter can play their part in continuing that success.

“There is now a greater emphasis on developing the youth players at clubs and giving the necessary support and backing, our vibrant and productive youth development programme will continue to flourish and provide opportunities for the local talent to become associated with our Club from an early age and one day, achieve their dream of becoming a first team player.

“To continue the fantastic work our coaches provide, we need money and whilst we are all working very hard and giving lots of time, funding is very, very important.

“We have already seen the development and progression of many youth players through the system and into the first team and for this work to date I would like to express my sincerest thanks and appreciation to all youth coaches and staff as its due to their hard work and commitment, together with the partnerships established with the local boys clubs and the Dumbarton Football Development League, there is now a comprehensive football development pathway in place at Dumbarton Football Club.”
