Quids for the Kids!

January 10, 2013

FOLLOWING the overwhelming success of our first ‘Quids for the Kids’ fundraising initiative for DFC’s YDI last April, the Trust are again appealling to Dumbarton fans to help out by contributing again this weekend before the Partick Thistle match.

Last time round, the club’s youngsters benefited to the tune of £945.

The event got off to a cracking start with a whopping £200 donation from Andy Galloway, Denise Currie, David Powell, Brian Payne and David Richardson, who form the Trust’s quiz team.

The team had just claimed the title, for the second year running, as National Inter-Trust Champions — a league system competing against other supporters bodies.

As well as collecting a trophy, there is a cash prize and the donation to the fund was very welcome.

The concept is simple ; the Trust is asking all supporters to drop just ONE POUND into special collection buckets, which will be carried by coaches/parents and players of the YDI at the match.

All proceeds will be used for the club’s youth and community programme.

“This is our second Quids for Kids collection and we are hoping that it will be a success”, said Alan Findlay, the Trust’s director on the board of Dumbarton FC.

“Youth development is at the core of the trust’s aims and objectives and we are determined that we give as much support as we possibly can.

“Funding routes are diminishing so we have to start doing things for ourselves.

“Our club has a cracking reputation for developing players and by giving just £1 on Saturday against Partick Thistle, every supporter can play their part in continuing that success.”
