Get Behind the Sons!

July 25, 2012

THIS year is Dumbarton’s 140th anniversary. “We want a proud future as well as a proud past.”

That was the message from the Sonstrust to local paper the Lennox Herald last week, contributing to the growing Support Our Sons campaign.

Combined attendances for our two recent friendlies against Clydebank and St Mirren have been around 1,300. Those who came have seen some promising football. We’re hoping for another good turnout for the Queen of the South Cup game and launch of the DumBAR Challenge on Saturday!

The Trust comment to the Lennox, who are supporting the club in it’s mission to make the first home league fixture of the new season a sell-out on 18 August, continued:

“Newly-promoted Dumbarton now face a massive financial and football challenge. The game’s future is at stake. But this is also a real chance for change.

“The trust intends to play a big part in helping the club in the coming season and beyond. We will also be stepping up our work for far-reaching restructuring and refinancing of the game, including more community ownership.

“Our fans have spoken, now we can act together. We need more Sonstrust members, more season ticket sales and more people cheering the Sons as they take on the big boys of the First Division.
