WINTER SHUTDOWN

January 3, 2009

WITH yet another cancellation – today’s match at Albion Rovers is off due to a frostbound pitch – the debate on various message boards is hotting up on the subject of a winter shutdown for Scottish football.

So, in the best traditions of un-scientific opinion forming, below is our first attempt at putting a poll onto www.sonstrust.net on the very subject of this post.

Go on, give us your thoughts both via the poll and the comments box.

Thanks to everyone who has voted so far.

To those voting yes, what would the proposals be for said shutdown?

as you will see from my blog y attitude to plastic pitches is changing if it means the survival of our beloved club
you are whistling in the dark thinking that the SFA will have a winter shut down as they are in SPL’S pocket
and we smaller clubs are in their eyes a boil on their arse which they are set on ridding theselves of
anyone who think otherwise is blind

The clue is in the question.

Sustainable. Is it really finacially viable to have a winter shutdown? In my view, every season, there is a natural closure.

Then follows the unreasonable bollocks about fixture congestion.

So far, if tomorrow’s game goes ahead, it’s only two games we have lost – Albion Rovers and Elgin.

    Hardly a crisis,

    Plastic pitches? Stuff ’em.
