SPONSOR A GOAL

Dumbarton v Stenhousemuir 7.11.09

Sponsor a Goal

THE Sons Supporters Trust invites fans and businesses to pledge sponsorship for every goal scored by Dumbarton this season.

Supporters have the chance to make a donation to the trust coffers each time Roddy Hunter, Derek Carcary or any of their team-mates finds the net this season.

In return, you’ll be listed in every remaining matchday programme this season, and there will be another reward to collect at the end of the season.

Here’s how it works:

- The minimum sponsorship amount is 20p per goal, but you can pledge more if you want.

- Every goal scored by Sons in the Second Division (including play-offs if applicable), the Homecoming Scottish Cup and the Stirlingshire Cup count towards the scheme.

- Penalty shoot-outs and own goals, scored for or against, do not count. If there is any dubiety over the scorer of a goal, the BBC Sport website will have the final say.

- Payment will be accepted at two stages – after Sons’ 18th league game (the midway point in the campaign) and at the end of the season.

If you want to pledge your support, or have any questions about the scheme, please leave a comment on this story.

Go on, you know you want to!! And with the team banging in the goals now, it’s a great way to raise much needed funds.

  15. Brian (and all other sponsors),

The 18th league game is indeed coming up – hopefully at Broadwood on Saturday.

As things stand, Sons have scored 26 goals this season. As everybody has pledged 50p, the current running total is £13.

There are two (or three) ways of handing over your sponsorship money:

    1) If the Clyde game goes ahead, bring it to the Stenhousemuir home game on Saturday, January 2 (if it’s on).
    2) If the Clyde game is off, bring it to the Cowdenbeath home game on Saturday, January 23 (the reason for the later date is that we should have played 18 games by then).
    3) Send a cheque in the post to the trust at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium – but only do this after the 18th league game.

    Any questions, just post.
