FOLLOWING recent discussions with the new Chief Executive at DFC, the Sonstrust are delighted to announce that fan friendly proposals put to the Club have been adopted for what promises to be an exciting new season ahead.
The Trust via our effective boardroom representation in Stephen Lynch put forward a number of suggestions to the Club as requested by our members.
For next season the Club have agreed to (as proposed by the Trust) :
- Introduce a parent and child gate where kids under 12 will only pay £2 if accompanied by an adult.
- Freeze season ticket prices
- Re-open the Supporters Bar at 12.30pm on matchdays and subject to final arrangements with manager Jim Chapman, the players will return to the bar post match to meet the fans.
- Introduce a Young Visitors scheme to encourage kids, via school or youth groups to attend DFC on matchdays. This will be co-ordinated by Sons manager Jim Chapman
- Match Mascot Pellie the Elephant will make a return to Strathclyde Homes Stadium (by popular demand)
- Social events in the Supporters Bar will be ramped up with plans afoot for monthly activities (see previous posting).
As you can see, the Sonstrust have again managed to negotiate, on behalf of every Sons fan, a number of benefits which can only be good for the Club and supporters.
Existing members will be asked to renew their shareholding in the Trust over the coming weeks and in line with our membership drive, the above list of achievements can be added to our impressive ‘CV’ so that potential new members can see the benefits of every Sons fan pulling together. The Trust continue to go from strength to strength, so why not be part of it?

Good stuff… well done. With this and the new signings, things are definitely moving forward.
The return of Pellie is long overdue!
Seriously though I think Gilbert is demonstrating that he’s keen to give the customers what they want and take board/fan relations in a new direction.
Morton owe Pellie a testimonial match I reckon… and he’s a furball of dignity compared to some of the ‘competition’ – http://www.sports-mascots.co.uk/celtic_mascots_page.htm
I’ll believe all the hype when it all happens. What is fan friendly about doing the obvious? Its still a closed shop and all thats happened is that deck chairs have been shuffled. The emphasis on running the club is still skewed towards the hanger on brigade. I dont think that will ever change if the guy promoted to the chairmans job is still around.
